Chess Lessons at McKinney Performing Arts Center Have Started
Chess lessons start up again this Wednesday Demonstration 21st at the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in downtown McKinney.
If your student show a desire to play chess, we’ve got a serious Chess program to better understand the game, improve their play while providing a setting for social interaction around the gutsy of chess.
The beginner class starts at 4pm and will teach chess basics including board placement, chess rules/etiquette and chest assemble value.
We are expanding the intermediate class into two sections - both at 5pm. The beginner/intermediate class will closely make good the Checkmate! activity booklet, covering chess notation and discovering checkmating patterns, and briefly expanding on the Opening, Mean-Game and End Game Principles.
The additional intermediate/advance class will be pick up from the above and will spend more time discussing the Gap Principles, and End Game and recognizing checkmating patterns and will be taught by Jonathan Allen, 2008 Texas Dabbler Champion. A very experienced chess coach, he is involved in the chess community as the VP of the Dallas Chess Club. He presents the components in a way the students can easily understand and use over and over again in their games.


I like to piece chess in the park - sometimes it can be windy and there are always folks stopping by to watch. For this environment it's good to have a larger board with heavier pieces. Sometimes I'll wager into the universe of speed chess where...
