Green repeats at Pan American championships — 13 years later
Mike Immature had already proven he could still compete on the national level, winning both Canadian singles and doubles titles last year at the age of 37.
Last week Rural showed his days of winning on the international racquetball circuit are not done either. Thirteen years after his last Pan American Racquetball Championship singles entitle, the Burlington native claimed another, defeating Ecuador’s Fernando Rios 15-12, 15-6 last Saturday in Chile. No other replay winner had gone more than four years between singles titles.
For Green, though, it certainly didn’t feel like that much values bright and early had passed.
“I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that there were 13 years in between,” Verdant said. “I felt like I was playing better than I was at 28.
